About Perception Instruments
Andrei Potanin
Chief Scientist
Retired Sr. Director at Colgate-Palmolive, published extensively in rheology and tribology. Perception Instruments exists to turn subjective sensory language -- smooth, sticky, stringy, hard to squeeze, easy to spread -- into repeatable mechanical measurements that CPG R&D teams can use in formulation decisions.
The company is based in New Jersey, close to many cosmetics, personal-care, oral-care, household, and food R&D labs that need fast in-person discovery, sample drop-off, instrument demos, and calibration support.

In October 2026, Andrei Potanin is speaking on emulative sensory measurement while Dmitry Komkov demonstrates the custom devices live in the booth. It is the fastest way to see how a friction coefficient maps to what your consumers feel.
Talk & live device demos
Andrei speaking on the published method; Dmitry running spreader, stringiness, and shape-retention demonstrations on real formulations.
